The Fawsett Trust
This is a small charitable trust that distributes its income to elderly, long-term residents of Chalfont St Giles during December each year. The income is basically dividend income which in recent years has been supplemented by donations from local organisations such as the
C St G Gardens Association, the C St G Pre-school Playgroup and, this year for the second time, the Village Show.
Claim forms are completed by (or for) qualifying villagers. The distribution is in the form of vouchers that can be exchanged for goods at any Village retailer. The total value of the vouchers is about £800 and this is spread equitably over about seventy people. No administrative expenses are charged to the trust. The Trustees include the Rector of the Parish Church, two Parish Councillors and two others.
The scale of this charity is very small and yet the vouchers seem to be welcome. It is rather sad that in these affluent times there are still people in the Village to whom £10 per person (or a little more) can make a real difference. The Trust would be delighted to receive donations and these will be faithfully applied. Further information may be obtained from Rev. Tim Stacey at the Rectory or Mrs. Valerie Bayly-Jones at Russets, Back Lane (01494-873776).
