The Fawsett Trust
(Regd charity 201150)
This is a small charitable trust of longstanding
that distributes its income to elderly, longterm residents of Chalfont St
Giles in December each year. The income is dividend income supplemented by
donations from local organisations, such as the Chalfont St Giles
Playgroup and the Village Show.
Claim forms are completed by (or for) qualifying
villagers, ie those aged over 65, living on limited incomes and resident
in the village for at least 20 years. The distribution is in the form of
vouchers and, since these are redeemable in exchange for goods, but only
at any village retailer, there is a double benefit for the village as a
whole. The total value of the vouchers in 2007 was £1,695, spread among 85
villagers. No administrative expenses are charged to the trust. The
trustees include the Rector of the parish, two Parish Councillors and two
others.
The scale of this charity is very small and yet the
vouchers seem to be very gratefully received. It is rather sad that, in
these modern times, there are still a number in the village to whom a
small amount can make a real difference at Christmas. THE TRUST WOULD BE
DELIGHTED TO RECEIVE ANY DONATIONS and these will be faithfully applied.
Further information may be obtained from Rev. Tim Stacey at The Rectory, 2
Deanway, or Mrs. Valerie Bayly-Jones at Russets, Back Lane (Tel: 01494
873776).
