 The
Nurse Marjorie Bott
Memorial Fund
Registered Charity No. 244490

Marjorie Bott was District Nurse in this area from 1948 until her sudden death
in 1961. She was a very caring person and much loved in the village.
After her death, friends thought it appropriate that a Fund was formed in her
memory. The purpose of the Fund was to allow the local doctors and nurses
to supply instant help to local families in need, in any way which would
support and comfort the sick or needy. The doctors and nurses may apply to
the Trustees of the Fund for such help, and monies or other goods passed to
the needy recipient. This may be done anonymously so that the Trustees do
not know the name of the recipient.
In recent years the role of the Fund has widened, and it now regularly
purchases items of medical equipment not usually supplied by the NHS for
use in the St Giles Surgery or in patients homes. At Christmas time the Fund
also supplies hampers and flowers (and even sacks of coal on occasions!) to
the elderly and needy locally.
The Fund covers the Parishes of Chalfont St Giles and Seer Green. There are
no administration costs, so every penny donated to the Fund goes to worthy
causes. Income is generated via collection boxes, gifts and legacies, fund-
raising events and donations from local clubs and societies.
If you did not know about our Fund we hope that these brief details will
encourage you to support us.
